Vernon Township and Sussex County have joined forces to provide transportation to seniors age 60 and over and disabled residents of any age.

This on-call service is provided free of charge (donations encouraged, tipping strictly prohibited) and reservations may be made up to fourteen days in advance.

Curb to curb transportation within Sussex County to and from medical appointments, local shopping, the senior center, errands, etc. is available Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. For medical appointments, transportation is available between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Transportation to local shopping centers is available twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays:

• Tuesdays: Franklin Walmart and ShopRite
• Fridays: Vernon Acme

Out-of-county transportation is also available but limited to non-emergency medical appointments. The service area extends as far as Morristown and across the line into Warren and Passaic counties as well as into Port Jervis, NY, and Milford, PA.

Residents utilizing this service must be able to meet the bus and travel independently (or with their own assistant) as driver intervention to assist with anything beyond boarding is not permitted nor are bus aides provided.
