The residents of Vernon Township are served by two volunteer-run amblance squads—the Vernon Township Ambulance Squad (VTAS) and the Glenwood Pochuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps (GPVAC). Both squads work together to ensure a prompt response by a fully-staffed ambulance and trained crew 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
As of February 2017, the township will receive supplemental ambulance coverage provided by Saint Clare’s Hospital four days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Vernon Township Ambulance Squad covers Vernon, McAfee, Highland Lakes, Barry Lakes and parts of Glenwood. It maintains two locations—one in Highland Lakes on Breakneck Road and a second location in the valley area of Vernon located off Rt. 94 behind the Dairy Queen.
The Glenwood Pochuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps covers the Glenwood area and is located on Drew Mountain Road.
