Vernon Township announces expanded Office Hours in the Construction Office through June 30, 2025-  hours will be Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Payments for all permits must be by check or exact cash.  Vernon Township does not accept credit or debit cards.  If you want your permit mailed, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope with permit application and payment.

To ensure the health, safety and welfare of the public, through proper administration of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, conducted in a timely, courteous and professional manner. 

The Vernon Township Division of Building is within the Vernon Township Department of Planning and Development. Commonly referred to as the building department, it administers and enforces the regulations of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code (UCC).

Supervised by a State-Licensed Construction Official, Paul Black, this division:

• Reviews construction permit applications
• Issues construction permits
• Inspects construction projects
• Coordinates the activities of the subcode officials
