The Vernon Township Division of Tax Collections, within the Vernon Township Department of Finance, receives and collects all current and delinquent real and personal property taxes, collects assessments for local improvements and conducts official searches for municipal liens.

In carrying out its statutory responsibilities, this division’s duties include the following:

• preparing and mailing tax bills
• charging and receiving penalties and interest pursuant to law
• receiving and safely keeping and disbursing all monies raised and received for the county and public schools
• making daily deposits of all monies received
• keeping a full and systematic accounting of all cash receipts and disbursements
• providing the council and mayor with periodic reports
• assisting the tax assessor in the preparation of the annual tax list
