Jakes Law Grant Application | Transforming an area of Veterans' Memorial Park into a completely inclusive playground:
What do you think of “Building a Completely Inclusive Playground for our community at Veterans’ Memorial Park”?
Vernon Township Recreation is hoping to embark on a journey to revitalize an area of Veterans’ Memorial Park into a completely inclusive playground, thanks to the Jake's Law Playground Grant funded through Green Acres. Our mission is to create an environment that fosters inclusivity, ensuring that individuals of all ages and abilities can enjoy a truly accessible and enriching recreational experience.
What is a Completely Inclusive Playground?:
A completely inclusive playground is designed to be welcoming and accommodating to individuals of all abilities, creating a space where everyone can play, interact, and thrive. It goes beyond basic accessibility, incorporating features such as inclusive play equipment suitable for various age groups and abilities, scenic landscaping with gardens, covered picnic areas, sensory stations, walking paths, and musical play stations. This playground would not be just a place to play; it would be a community hub that embraces diversity and promotes social integration.
Our mission is to transform an area of Veterans’ Memorial Park into a vibrant and inclusive space that promotes physical and social well-being for the entire community. By providing accessible and diverse recreational opportunities, we aim to strengthen community bonds, enhance the quality of life for residents, and create lasting memories for generations to come.
Proposed Site:
Veterans’ Memorial Park, centrally located in the township, is our chosen site for this transformative project. This strategic location ensures accessibility for residents across the community, making it a hub for inclusive recreation.
Join us in making Veteran's Memorial Park a beacon of inclusivity and community engagement. Your valuable input through our survey will play a crucial role in shaping the design and features of this completely inclusive playground. Together, let's create a space where everyone feels welcome, celebrated, and able to enjoy the benefits of outdoor play and social interaction.
