The Vernon Township Senior Board meeting was called to order at 9:35 a.m. by Betty Glass.
All members of the board and Melissa Wiedbrauk.
The minutes of the September 15, 2011 meeting were read and accepted by Layton.
The Christmas party will be December 15, 2011. Signups will be at the center November 30, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The price will be $7.00, Vernon residents only. One signup for themselves and not for others. Request for phone numbers in case of cancellation. The party will be advertised in the paper, posted at the center and mentioned at the Leisure Club meeting October 19, 2011.
The caterer at Gianna’s must see Melissa and the town manager for pricing the food for the Christmas party. The DJ for the party will be Allen Bolles.
Josephine inquired to Melissa if she could talk to the council and manager about increasing the budget for more activities at the center. She would look into it.
The AIM paper representative will be at the center Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. to observe the activities at the center. Melissa would like to see more people participate in the center’s activities and lunch program.
A senior exercise program will be held October 26, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the center. Buses will be provided.
Layton brought up complaints made by speakers at club meetings of the noise made by the pool players. It was suggested that players should stop playing until the meetings are over.
Josephine brought up the subject of absenteeism of the board members at meetings. If members of the board are absent, without a reasonable excuse, for more than three consecutive meetings during the period of one year, they will be requested to resign.
With no other business to come at this meeting, a motion was made to adjourn this meeting by Fran and seconded by Betty. Motion passed at 10:30 a.m.
Next meeting will be November 10, 2011.
