Statement of Compliance
Pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 23, P.L. 1975 adequate notice as defined by Section 3D, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975 has been caused to be made to the following: The New Jersey Herald, daily and Sunday, AIM and the Star-Ledger, and is posted on the bulletin board reserved for that purpose in the Vernon Municipal Center.

Minutes approved from January 5, 2011.
Chairperson Report
Discussion on National Night Out. Subcommittee meeting was held prior to regular rec meeting.
No council reorganization on 1/3 so we can’t hold ours. Next meeting will be our reorganization and 2 members will be sworn in.
Discussion and update on success of Christmas tree lighting. Should continue to be held at Maple Grange.
Recreation Director Report
The New Jersey Association of Parks and Recreation will present Vernon with a special events award on March 8, 2011 in Atlantic City. This award is for our annual Earthfest event.
Establish a 5-year plan for recreation. All parks and fields must be compliant with ADA law. Non-compliance puts state funds in jeopardy. Will check into if this means just new ones or if all must be up to code.
March 1 will reopen applications for grants. We should look into applying.
Earthfest will be May 1, 2011.
Township calendar went out to residents. Comment was made about Vernon Day being a Sunday.

National Night Out Aug 2, 2011
March 16 meeting will be attended by those involved. Jason Rinker will host a bicycle safety event.
Battle of the Bands—Discussion on Event
Dates: 6/25, 7/9, 7/23, 8/6. Winners of the first three weeks will compete on the 6th. $25.00 entry fee and $5 per person attending. Get flyer out to schools and look to businesses for donations. Discussion to follow on this as to categories, how will be judged.
