The commission discussed sending a letter to Kinder Morgan of the Tennessee Gas Pipeline, seeking clarifications on several statements in TGP’s letter of response to the commission dated November 12, 2012. With Diane Wexler doing the typing, the commission members worked together to formulate this letter. Specifically, the wanted clarification of the following:

  • What chemicals were used during the drilling process to keep the drill bits clean and for any other purposes in the construction of the pipeline, where were they used, and for what purpose were they used?
  • What were the methods of collection and disposal of all spills? The commission also requested accurate GPS coordinates for all spills, along with documentation confirming prior test dates and levels along with any future test dates planed and mitigation procedures.
  • Are floc logs and absorbent pads the same? If not, please define the difference. What chemicals were the absorbent pads put in place to absorb? What was the method of their collection and disposal?
  • Are there any chemicals used during the construction and maintenance and use of the pipeline?
  • How are these pipelines cleaned and how do you dispose of the cleaning fluids?

The commission also requested the MSDS on the absorbent pads deployed and a copy of TGP’s Project Spill Prevention Plan.

The meeting adjourned at about 9:13 p.m.
